ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions about ordering from us: documents, sizes, prices, delivery and returns. For the law and the standards behind the plates themselves, see our guides.

What counts as proof of entitlement?
Your V5C logbook, a new keeper supplement, a certificate of entitlement, or a retention document. We also need proof of your identity — a driving licence or a recent utility bill. This isn't us being awkward: every registered number plate supplier in the UK is legally required to check it before manufacturing.
How do I send my documents?
You'll be prompted for them at checkout. A clear photo taken on your phone is fine as long as the registration and your name are readable. If anything doesn't come through properly we'll email you before making the plates, so keep an eye on your inbox.
Can I order plates for more than one car?
Yes. Add the first plate with its registration, then change the registration and add the next one. Each line in your basket carries its own registration, and they'll all be on the same order.
What happens if I type my registration wrong?
Plates are made to order, so a wrong registration can't be remade for free. Check your entry carefully before paying. If you spot a mistake straight after ordering, contact us immediately — if it hasn't gone into production we'll correct it.
Can I order plates for someone else's car?
Only if you can supply the entitlement documents for that registration. The documents have to match the registration being ordered, not the person placing the order.
Can I cancel or change my order?
If it hasn't gone into production yet, yes — message us as soon as you can. Once a plate has been printed with your registration on it we can't resell it, so cancellation isn't possible after that point.
What sizes do you offer?
Right now we make the standard 520 × 111mm oblong, which fits almost every UK car and van. Square, motorcycle and trailer sizes are on the way — you'll see them listed as coming soon on the 2D plates page. If you need one of those before they launch, get in touch and we'll see what we can do.
How do I know which size I need?
Measure your existing plate, or the recess it sits in. If it's long and thin, you need the standard oblong. If it's short and tall, you need the square size. When in doubt send us a photo before ordering rather than guessing — a wrong-size plate can't be returned.
What font do you use?
Charles Wright — the only typeface permitted on UK road-legal plates. Character height, width, stroke thickness and spacing are all fixed by law, which is why a legal plate can never use a narrower or stylised font, however good it looks.
Can I have a flag or country identifier?
Yes. UK plates can carry the Union flag, the Cross of St George, the Saltire or the Red Dragon of Wales, alongside an approved identifier such as UK, ENG, SCO, CYM or WALES. Other flags, badges and logos aren't permitted on road-legal plates — though they're fine on show plates.
Are 3D and 4D plates road legal?
Yes. Raised characters are explicitly allowed, as long as the plate meets BS AU 145e: a single shade of black, the correct character sizes and spacing, the British Standard marking and the supplier’s details. Full detail, including the sizes and spacing that catch people out, is in our guide: are 4D number plates legal?
What's the difference between a show plate and a road-legal plate?
A road-legal plate can only display your actual registration, is made to BS AU 145e, and needs proof of entitlement. A show plate can say anything you like, needs no documents, and is for shows, displays and off-road use only. Fitting a show plate to a vehicle on a public road is an offence and will fail an MOT.
Do I need documents to order a show plate?
No. Because show plates aren't road legal there's no entitlement check — type what you want and order.
Can I put anything I want on a show plate?
Within reason. We won't produce anything offensive, and we won't knowingly produce a plate designed to impersonate another vehicle's registration. Beyond that it's yours — names, nicknames, club names, event dates.
Do I get a discount for ordering more than one set?
Yes. Two or more sets takes 10% off, and four or more takes 15%. It applies across your whole basket, so a pair for one car plus a single plate for another still counts as two sets. The discount is applied automatically — you don't need a code.
Why does checkout take me to a different website?
Payment is handled by Stripe, so the final step happens on their secure checkout rather than on our site. That's deliberate — it means your card details never touch our servers. Your order details carry across, and your receipt comes from us.
Is the price I see the price I pay?
Yes. UK delivery is included in every price on the site, so the figure you see at checkout is the same one you saw on the product page.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
We currently supply UK addresses only. Road-legal plates are made to British standards and entitlement rules, so they're of limited use abroad in any case.
Can I track my order?
You'll get a confirmation email when you order and a second one when your plates are dispatched. If your delivery option includes tracking, the number will be in that second email.
My plate arrived damaged — what now?
Send us a photo within 14 days and we'll replace it. Damage in transit is rare because plates go out in rigid packaging, but if it happens it's on us to put right, not you.
Can I get a refund if something is wrong?
Yes. If there's a manufacturing defect or we've made an error, we'll replace or refund your order — contact us within 14 days of receiving your plates. Because plates are personalised and made to order, we can't refund a correctly made plate simply because you've changed your mind.
Do you fit the plates for me?
No, we supply plates only. Most fit with number plate screws or adhesive pads and take a few minutes with a screwdriver. If your existing fixings are rusted or the old plate is bonded on, a local garage will swap them over in no time.
STILL STUCK?
